Kayaking is ideally suited to the demands of the International Award Adventurous Journey. It requires perseverance and determination, encouraging a spirit of independance and mutual support, and rewarding students with the chance to explore remote locations entirely under their own steam.
At Topper Sail Phuket we offer full training in accordance with BCU guidelines. Students learn essential techniques through guided experimentation afloat, discovering how to control their boat and what to do in the event of a capsize. Our fleet of sea kayaks are ideally suited to longer journeys in sheltered water, allowing students a great degree of freedom in choosing their route, and we provide a powerboat escort to ensure all journeys are completed safely and successfully.
Which Award levels is it suitable for?
Kayaking is suitable for all three levels of the Award – Bronze, Silver and Gold. The different locations that we offer present unique challenges for all abilities and ages.
Where can you go?
South Phuket – our base in Ao Yon provides an ideal starting point for expeditions to the surrounding islands, and the beaches and bays of southern Phuket.
- Phang Nga Bay – working with our partners on Koh Yao Yai we can offer longer-distance routes that take in the stunning scenery of one of Thailand’s national treasures.
- Khao Sok National Park – a more remote location offering unparalleled opportunities to observe local wildlife in its natural habitat.
